“Don’t wait for your ship sail in, swim out and meet it.”

Faith is a young woman who has always determined to achieve greatness and success in life.

I grew up in Kuilsriver, Cape Town with both my and I am the youngest of two children. I completed my schooling in the year 2000 and could not go to further my education, due to a lack of funds. I then decided to go work to save up money for my studies. In 2001 I got employment at Dunn’s Clothing shop as a sales assistant where I worked for about 7 months. I then used some of my savings and went on a computer course.

While I was busy with the computer course my friend informed me about Chrysalis Academy and the great opportunities they had to offer. After I did research on the organization I decided that it was a great opportunity to empower myself. I was accepted to come on the first only girls course in 2002 and I learned more than what I expected.

“My journey to success began at Chrysalis Academy.”

I grew up in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha community and I live with both my parents. I am the third eldest of five kids. As young people we are exposed to many substances in the community. Peer pressure and a low self-esteem led me to join in this negative lifestyle. I was involved with gangsters, physical abuse and substance abuse.

As I was longing for success and better things in life and to be respected, I had to make a decision to change my life around. I was working as a taxi guard at Retreat station when I met graduates of Chrysalis Academy. They explained to me what the programme was about and shared their experiences with me. The next week I filled out an application form and was accepted to come on the programme in June 2008.
